European Stoneware Jug c.1800Origin: German Colour: Mottled Honey Brown Dimensions: Height 11.5in Body Width 4in Lip: Hand turned Base: Flat Source: Essequibo. Guyana. Condition: Great. Typical surface wear and chip to side of handle and a stable hairline at the base of the handle. Special features: German stoneware mineral water jug with slightly tapering body. The inscriptions on the bottle are illegible. There are both inner and outer circle inscriptions. The inscription in the inner circle consists of 4 letters separated by a double-lined cross. The inscription in the outer circle appears to include the letters 'T F R S ???'. The only letter that is legible in the inner circle inscription is 'C'. |
