Condition: Excellent. Cellar found condition with glossy surface and base wear consistent with the bottle's age. Minor lip nibbles to the applied string rim. No chips or cracks.
Special features:
This is the rarest of early English wine bottles. According to Dumbrell, 1983, page 120: "Shaft and globe, onion, and mallet wine bottles with applied handles, originally intended as true serving bottles, are exceptionally rare. The number of sealed examples can virtually be counted on the fingers of one hand."
