English Straight-sided Onion Wine bottle circa. 1715Origin: England Colour: Medium olive green Dimensions: Height 6.00 in Width 5.75in Lip: English applied string rim Base: Kickup with sand pontil Source: Edinburgh. Scotland. Condition: Great. Glass decay, barnacles, irridescence and extensive surface flaking adds to the appeal of this well preserved bottle. Minor lip nibbles. No cracks in the glass surface. Special features: A straight-sided or rolled side onion recovered by fishermen from the Firth of Forth near the Isle of May. The surface seems to have been preserved by soaking in olive oil. |
