English Cylinder Wine Bottle with Applied Seal c.1830-1850

Origin: English

Colour: Olive Green

Dimensions: Height 11.5in Width 3.0in

Lip: Down-tooled with applied collar

Base: No pontil

Source: Devon. England

Condition: Great. Glossy surface with 2 cm chip/flake on the external surface of the lip. The lip flake does not detract from the beauty and stature of this bottle.

Special features: Excellent example of a post-Ricketts' patent bottle.
Henry Ricketts obtained his patent to produce bottles using his 3-piece mould machine in 1821
Seal: Embossed with a bushy-tailed fox standing above a well-struck family coat of arms. The arms on this bottle is said to have belonged to a prominent North Devon family.
